26 machines Part 1

In our first typo/graphic workshop, we were asked to work in pairs and design a typeface. Each team was given a pre-selected palette of basic graphic elements. The shape we chose was a hexagon. After some experiments we decided to create letters by folding/disforming the shape in different ways.

These were the first trials:

This is the final specimen sheet for my type, which I called "hexa":

For the next 3 months I will focus on the pathways "Typo/Graphics" and "Moving Image". I chose the following two examples in order to visualise in which direction I would like to go.

At the moment I am very interested in collages.
The works by Julien Pacaud and Mark Weaver especially inspire me.

While I was researching post modern architecture for the presentation for my "Visual Culture Theory" course I stumbled on the works of Haus-Rucker-CO, which was an architectural cooperation formed in Vienna in 1967 by Laurids Ortner, Günter Zamp Kelp and Klaus Pinter.

One of their early projects were a collection of helmets featuring coloured visors, lights and headphones. These helmets change sensory impressions in a visual and acoustic way for a limited time and were said to isolate the wearer from the outside environment and should work as a buffer between the real world and the senses of the person inside.

Another project was a seat object for two people and featured light and sound effects and was meant to induce a trance-like state.

This is my first stopmotion video. It visualises the origin of the "Ruhr Theatre Festival"/"Ruhrfestspiele", which takes place in my hometown, Recklinghausen.

These are posters I created to support my stop motion movie about the
Ruhr Theatre Festival.
